Getting Here
Address
Saltwater Apartment, 48 The Parade, The Bay, Filey, YO14 9GA — a short drive from Filey town centre, inside The Bay holiday village near Primrose Valley.
Driving directions
Sat-nav: YO14 9GA. Head towards Filey and follow signs for Primrose Valley. Travelling south, just after Primrose Valley take the next left into The Bay.
Once inside The Bay, follow the main road (The Parade) and take the second right onto Oyster Way, then an immediate left into the car park behind the property.
The front door can be reached by following the road round to the front, or via the small footpath to the right of the building as you face it.
Parking
On-site parking for one car
A parking space is provided on site for one vehicle, in the car park to the rear of the property (off Oyster Way).
Check-in
Key collection
Your key is in a small black, house-shaped key box on the front door, next to the apartment sign.
Check-in is from 3pm. We can sometimes arrange an early check-in — just message us and we'll do our best, though we can't promise. If you arrive early, see the "if you arrive early" note in Local Area — there's plenty to keep you busy nearby.

During Your Stay
Swimming pool, sauna & steam room
The Bay's heated swimming pool, sauna and steam room are free to use, along with a range of children's activities during the summer months (some at additional cost) — see what's on this week.
Access is via a key card, found next to this welcome pack in the apartment — the pool and gym entrance is at the tennis courts. Left it at home? Just show your booking at reception and they'll let you in.
🏊 Booking the pool in school holidays
During school holidays you'll need to book the pool in advance. Bookings are released at 12pm every Friday for the following week.
Book the poolGym, beauty & other activities
- Gym: free, but must be booked in advance — call the leisure centre on 01723 518130 (option 4). Open 9am–6pm, 9am–8pm Fridays.
- Beauty: an on-site beautician is available at extra cost — call 01723 518130 to book.
- Tennis: book at the leisure centre.
- Table tennis: available from the leisure centre for a £10 deposit.
- Boules: on site, book on 01723 518130 — £20 deposit, 9am–4pm only.
- Children's play area: on site — ask at reception if you can't spot it.
Sofa bed
The living room sofa bed sleeps an extra 2 people. At the front of the bed are two toggles/fabric flaps — pull them towards you and the bed will slide out and upwards, clicking into place. To put it away, lift the flaps and slide the bed back into the sofa.
Bedding is in the ottoman section of the sofa, on the right. If children are using it, we'd recommend using the waterproof sheet provided to protect the sofa from any little accidents.
Central heating
There's a Smart Thermostat on the bedroom wall — we recommend 20°C, which keeps the apartment comfortably warm. Heating and hot water run automatically morning and evening; turn the thermostat down if it feels too warm.
Kitchen equipment
Manuals for all appliances are in the drawer of the unit behind the living room door.
Dishwasher: bring your own tablets. Insert one into the flip box inside the door, press power so it's submerged, then choose your programme (avoid the 2h/4h delay buttons). Close the door to start.
Fridge/freezer: no need to adjust — let us know if it's not cooling well.
Hob & oven: a four-ring electric hob plus electric oven and grill. Please leave the door open when grilling.
Laundry
The washer is integrated in the kitchen — please bring your own detergent. Select your programme, add detergent to the tray, close the door and press start. Instructions are in the living room drawer if needed.
TV & entertainment
The bedroom TV has Freeview built in.
The living room TV offers Freeview, or an Amazon Fire Stick via HDMI 2 on the TV remote. From the Fire Stick you can reach Netflix (your own account needed) or the app that looks like a TV with a star — for movies, box sets and sport.
Beach essentials & patio
Beach towels aren't provided, so please bring your own.
The patio chairs are for your exclusive use during your stay.
House rules
- Dogs are welcome — please don't leave them unattended, use a throw on the sofa, and scoop the poop on walks.
- Saltwater is a strictly no-smoking apartment — please smoke outside. Evidence of smoking indoors will result in the damage deposit being kept.
Breakages
Accidents happen — please let us know straight away so we can sort a replacement for the next guest. Minor breakages usually aren't charged; for anything bigger, we'll agree the cost with you before you leave.
Safety & emergencies
For a genuine emergency, call 999 first. For anything urgent but non-emergency, message us on the urgent WhatsApp button or call Nick on 07854 952261.
Exits: via the front door and communal passage to the main door, or via the bedroom door onto the patio.
An integrated fire alarm sounds in every room. A fire extinguisher is in the communal area, with instructions on it — only use it if it's safe to do so.
A battery-operated carbon monoxide detector is in the boiler cupboard. If it sounds, leave the property immediately and call Nick so we can arrange a gas engineer.
Local Area
The beach
About a 10-minute walk away, reached via a private path — just follow the signs. Check the BBC tide tables before you head down.
On-site shop & dining
The shop: next to the John Paul Jones, stocking holiday essentials and open till late.
John Paul Jones pub: open from midday for lunch and dinner — everyone's welcome, including children and dogs. Booking ahead is a good idea as it gets busy.
If you arrive early
Pop into the on-site shop next to the John Paul Jones for a small shop, or head to Tesco in Filey (about a 5-minute drive) for a bigger one — leaving you free to relax once you've checked in.

We'd recommend Lazer Taxis (01723 515515), a Filey-based company — best to book ahead as they get busy.
Checkout
Before you go
Checkout is strictly 10am. A later checkout is almost impossible on days we have new guests arriving, as our cleaners need the time to prepare — but let us know beforehand and we'll always try.
